One of the later aims within the project was to conform to emerging portlet standards, particularly JSR168 and WSRP. Work was undertaken to ensure the portlets and supporting portal code would work in a JSR168 portlet container. The initial design of the SPP portlet API had anticipated the subsequent appearance of a portlet standard and tried to allow for an adaptor layer to be easily installed. The work was completed with reasonable success and allows SPP portlets to be run in a JSR168 container such as Pluto, the reference implementation from apache.
